SFR: Anita Raj in Zara Si Zindagi

I was watching it about an hour ago and decided that was the perfect excuse to pop the first disc into my computer's DVD drive and make a few caps.

More caps behind the "read more" link:

NFR: Anita Raj

Film related question: "In which movie did Anita look the most beautiful, Zara Si Zindagi or Naukar Biwi Ka?"

My answer: "That's a tough call, but if my faulty memory can be trusted, Naukar Biwi Ka wins by a slight margin."

TPP: Anita Raj

Caps from her Keeping Fit With Anita Raj workout video/vcd.

I wonder how tall she is. During one of the songs in Prem Geet, she seemed to go out of her way to not tower over her co-star, Raj Babbar. I'm guessing at least 5'8", maybe 5'9".

Aside: I'm not feeling motivated to post anything of "substance" these days. Perhaps that will change soon but for now, I'm sort of taking a break from this blog.

Kasam Kali Ki(1991)

As soon as I spied Anita Raj on the cover I immediately hopped on Google to find additional information about this film. Unfortunately, I can't find anything. Not a plot summary, not a review, not a YouTube video, nothing. It must've slipped way under the radar when it was released to be such a non-entity on the 'net. I have a feeling this is one of those movies that sat on the shelf for years before it finally--and very briefly--saw the light of day.

I sort of want to order it just for the slapdash cover art and multilingual subtitles, but I'm afraid that I'll wind up disappointed with my purchase :(

I wonder if the song I watched last night is from this film since it features three of the people on the cover(Anita, Raj Babbar, and Shakti Kapoor).

Kaun? Kaise?(1983)

I stumbled across this title while trying to figure out which movie this song is from(and if anyone reading this knows, please tell).

I want to see this solely for the awesome picturisations of the "Main Bhi Hoon Yahan", "Kyon Kaise Hua", and "Main Akela Aur Dilber" songs. I read here that it was a flop, but that doesn't deter me. While I'm not a Mithun fan, I figure watching him play a detective trying to solve a murder could be entertaining in a "so-bad-it's-good" kind of way. And Anita Raj looks so gorgeous in the first song that I seriously want to weep. Oh, how I long for the early eighties! Anyway...

The VCD is available from Induna. One day, I might have to actually place an order with them, seeing how they seem to have a decent selection of older Hindi films on VCD.

Zara Si Zindagi(1983)

Hindi remake of Varumaiyin Niram Sivappu, a 1980 Tamil movie starring Kamal Hassan and Sridevi. (I've been meaning to type a post about this, BTW, but I can't seem to find the right words to express why I love this movie and what it means to me.)

I've been obsessed with watching this film ever since I first found out about it. I'm sure the original is better, but I still want to see it because of Kamal Hassan and Anita Raj. Anita isn't necessarily a favorite actress of mine, but I found her alluring in some of her early and mid-eighties films, and she kind of fascinates me because, aside from the most basic facts, I know very little about her. (And I'd rather keep it that way so that she retains the mysterious aura I've created for her, haha.) I wonder how she fares in Sridevi's role, and if she and Kamal have any onscreen chemistry.

I doubt a DVD release is in the cards since, AFAIK, it was a huge flop. I don't think there's a VCD available, either. There may be a VHS copy floating around somewhere, but it's highly unlikely that I'll get my hands on it. Apparently, it can be viewed or downloaded here, but I should first find out if anyone else has used this site and what their experiences were before signing up.
